Elio Perrone Barbera d'Asti "Tasmorcan" (Piemonte) 2015

A delicious Barbera from Elio Perrone, a Piemontese winery that has been run by Elio's son and former motorcycle racer Stefano since 1989. Harvested by hand his "Tasmorcan" is sourced from vines planted in 1999 in the great Mongovone vineyard. 20% is aged in stainless and 80% aged in a mix of used botte and barrique. Many of Perrone's are northwest facing. Stefano believes that ripeness is easy to achieve if the yields are kept low. The orientation also allow the vineyards to cool down faster in the evening, this retaining more acidity and vibrancy. 3,800 cases produced annually. Screw top.
